Interview de Harald LIESKE
Jeux’n’CO : Can you introduce yourself to people who do not know you yet?
Harald Lieske : My name is Harald Lieske and I´m a human being from the middle 70s.
Most time of my life I spend my time being an illustrator and musician.
But I also like a nice walk outside.
Jeux’n’CO : What path did you follow to become an illustrator in the gaming world?
Harald Lieske : I moved to Münster – where I´m actually still living – for design and illustration studies.
During my studies I started to develop my first own boardgames.
I met Dr. Max Kobbert there (author of « Das verrückte Labyrinth » – a game I used to
play a lot as a child) – and he told me about a meeting in Göttingen, where boardgame
designers meet once a year. I became acquainted with a lot of authors and editors there
and since then I take part in this meeting every year.
The second time I went there I had one of my prototypes with me – and there was interest!
This game was published by Queen Games: « Das Gold der Inka ».
I thought it would be best to combine my mania for games with my mania for drawing.
I think this was a good decision – I´m feeling very well with it.
Jeux’n’CO : How would you define your artistic world?
Harald Lieske : First of all: Paper. Pencils. Brushes. And different kinds of watercolours. I´m in need of having coloured fingers at the end of day.
First there´s the (sometimes frightening) white sheet – and at the end it´s a great moment for me
having filled it up with colours and holding it in my hands.
I don´t paint on computers – I do corrections and layout with it.
Jeux’n’CO : Can you tell us about your main inspirations?
Harald Lieske : That´s easy: Life. Inspirations are just everywhere – you just have to keep your eyes open.
Jeux’n’CO : Are you yourself a fan of games?
Harald Lieske : Oh yes I am! See above: I´m truely addicted in boardgames! In computer games as well, but these
take too much time – so I better don´t touch them ; )
Jeux’n’CO : What are your future plans?
Harald Lieske : Find some more time to develop my own game ideas.
Find some more time to do more music.
Find some more time to be outside.
So – just find some more time ; )
Jeux’n’CO : I thank you on behalf of the association Jeux’n'CO for the time you spent on me. Any last words?
Harald Lieske : I want to thank you for your interest and for this interview : )
